I love the flowers and lemon slices...too cute =) Though I confess, I have NOT hugged my flowers today or even very recently. I think it's because they are all dead from the lack of rain. Thanks for visiting my blog and tweeting. I have no clue why Tom's picture comes up...too weird!

Thanks for including pictures of the process, it really helps those of us who've never made brittle before! The first batch I made was a hit, and now I'm making this stuff all the time...in fact, I'm jonesing for another taste of brittle as we speak, so I'm off to the kitchen to make more!

I made this brittle, and no joke, it is HIGHLY addictive! I brought some to work with me...now I've got people willing to PAY me to make this for them! I've made some variations on this recipe since the first batch, and it's all been wonderful (except for the ginger peanut, it just didn't come out the way I expected). So, just wanted to update your update on my brittle experience! Thanks so much for the original post!

I can't wait to try this.
I make a Sage Vodka Martinelli's Martini by adding a little apple juice or cider instead of vermouth. Garnish with a skewered apple slice and chunk of Valdeon blue cheese.
The sweet of the juice balances the stringent news of the sage. I infuse with my regular garden sage, but will try my next batch with the Biergarden I have growing, though I've heard it is more sharply flavored.

And yes, a true martini is made with gin, but barely anyone--including bartenders--knows that anymore. I order them all the time and have to specify GIN.

Thank you Forest! Good question. I didn't notice if the flowers were affected by the lemons or not. Perhaps changing the water daily would be a good idea, especially if you've spent $$$ on your bouquet. I used herbs (mint) and flowers (feverfew) that were growing like crazy in my garden, so if the bouquet didn't stay as fresh longer I didn't mind.

Hi Stacey! Thanks for your compliment! Yes, I juice up my lemons and freeze the juice in ice cube containers. Very handy for cocktails.
